Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral?
1.
You do not need a referral to access occupational therapy services.
Some families may be eligible for funding through programs such as Medicare, the NDIS, or private health insurance. If you’re unsure what funding options may be available, I’d be happy to discuss this with you.
What ages do you work with?
2.
I work with infants, toddlers and children up to 8 years of age.
How long are appointments?
3.
Therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes in duration.
An additional 10 minutes is allocated after each appointment for clinical note writing, planning and preparation for your child’s ongoing therapy.
What happens at the first appointment?
4.
The first appointment is usually a parent consultation. This provides an opportunity to discuss your child’s developmental history, strengths, current challenges and your goals for therapy. Together, we explore what is most important for your family and plan the next steps.
Where do sessions take place?
5.
Sessions may be provided within your child’s early learning, kindergarten or school environment or your child’s home, depending on your child’s individual needs and therapy goals.
How often will my child need therapy?
6.
Following the assessment process, we will work together to develop an individualised therapy plan. Depending on your child’s needs and goals, therapy may be recommended weekly, fortnightly or at another frequency that best supports your child’s progress.
Can you work with my child’s educators or other health professionals?
7.
Yes. With your consent, I enjoy collaborating with educators, paediatricians and other allied health professionals to provide coordinated, holistic support and help your child participate confidently across the environments that are important to them.
